Infernal Dreams

 Medium: dry pastels on paper

Here a rose, a paper, a candle and a crayon, kept on a table.

Red, orange and yellow, the warm colors are used here to show life, anger, hatred and pain. The rest of the colors are used to show the crayon, candle, paper and wood, all these objects aren't alive. Where as the rose and fire show life. The rule of thirds is used in a manner that the message on the paper is high-lighted. The color of fire (yellow orange) is dominating.

The picture describes emotions portrayed in an event. A person who has written the poem on the paper has taken lot of time to write, shown by the half melted candle. After all the pain and effort put into writing the poem, he burnt his work due to anger and hatred. It is obvious that the anger and hatred are towards someone dear. These dark emotions made him break the crayon, something one would rarely use to write. In his anger and hatred he did much but did not hurt the rose. He disturbed the leaves but never touched a petal. No matter how much hatred he had he couldn't hurt the one he loved.

The painting is considered to be grotesque as it is most of destruction than being gothic.

"Star light, star bright,
First star i see tonight,
I wish i may,
I wish i might,
I wish my wish,
Comes true tonight"
